Estimate belt size

Use a measured waist or, preferably, measure a belt that already fits.

If you have a belt that already fits, this direct measurement is a useful check on a waist-based estimate.

Use this as a starting length

The calculator maps a measured waist to the nearest generic belt row. It works best when the measurement comes from the actual wearing position rather than from a trouser label.

For fashion belts worn on the hips, measure that lower position instead of reusing a natural-waist number.

How this guidance is checked

These sources support the measurement method and help check real-world variation. They are not presented as one universal brand-size table.

  • Levi's Belt Size Chart — Levi's. Cross-check showing belt labels depend on the brand’s measurement convention and do not follow one universal waist-plus-offset rule.
  • Men Size Guide — H&M. Cross-check for men’s EU/US clothing, chest and waist ranges, trousers, jackets, and suit-style numeric references.
