Label comparison, not a foot-length chart. JP/CM is a printed shoe size label; it is not the length of your foot measured with a ruler. For a measured foot length in cm or inches, open the footwear maker's separate Foot Length or Heel-to-toe chart to choose a size. The US/UK/EU references here are approximate and vary by brand.

US to India: a documented UK-style retail example

Bata India's own chart lists US 8.5 alongside UK 8 and EU 42 for its illustrated shoe range. When an India-market seller uses UK-style labels, read the UK number from that seller's table rather than assuming every US size has the same local offset.

For instance, Nike's general men's chart uses a different US-to-UK pairing for some sizes. Match brand, wearer category and the exact product chart before ordering.

How to use the general reference chart on this page

The table above compares approximate US men, US women, UK, EU and JP/CM printed shoe-label references. It does not provide a direct country-specific size column. The brand-specific example above supplies a checked local-label answer; confirm it against the actual product chart before buying.

Keep foot length measured from heel to longest toe separate from CM/JP or millimeter numbers printed as shoe size labels. Those may be different quantities even when both contain the unit cm or mm.
