Read the women's size references first

The men's columns in the shared chart are not the answer to a women's pants-size question. Start with the measured-waist row, then read the women's US and EU example ranges. For a 32-inch waist, the chart shows women's US 10–14 and EU 42–46; these are intentionally broad ranges, not one universal size.

Check whether a brand's waist measurement describes the wearer's body or the finished garment. Match that measurement method before comparing product labels.

Use hip, rise and fabric to choose between sizes

Measure where the waistband will sit rather than automatically using the natural waist. When waist and hip measurements suggest different sizes, check the brand's garment-specific hip and waist measurements before choosing.

Stretch, rise and cut affect the fit. Use the retailer's product chart to pick a size; do not read an illustrative US 10–14 range as a single recommendation.
