Jacket Size Chart
Choose the men’s tailored-jacket or women’s clothing-size reference below, then check garment type, layers and the brand’s own size chart.
These are two different starting references, not one universal jacket conversion. Men's rows describe tailored numeric suit-style jackets; women's rows are general clothing-size examples for comparing bust, waist and hips. Neither table predicts outerwear ease or exact brand fit.
Men's tailored numeric-jacket reference
Start with chest circumference. Example: the chart's US/UK 40 row pairs with EU 50 and a 98–102 cm chest range. This is a suit-style reference, not a guarantee for casual coats or insulated layers.
| Men's US / UK example | Men's EU example | Chest reference |
|---|---|---|
| 34 | 44 | 33.75–35.5 in / 86–90 cm |
| 36 | 46 | 35.5–37 in / 90–94 cm |
| 38 | 48 | 37–38.5 in / 94–98 cm |
| 40 | 50 | 38.5–40.25 in / 98–102 cm |
| 42 | 52 | 40.25–41.75 in / 102–106 cm |
| 44 | 54 | 41.75–43.25 in / 106–110 cm |
| 46 | 56 | 43.25–44.75 in / 110–114 cm |
For shoulder, length and sleeve fit, see the men's jacket chart and the maker's specific product measurements.
Women's illustrative clothing-size bands
The women's US 8–10 example row pairs with UK 12–14, EU 38–40 and a bust range of 88–97 cm. These are general clothing-size bands, not a jacket-brand-specific grading chart. A jacket's shoulder, shape and intended layers may require another size.

| 4–6 | 8–10 | 34–36 | 31.5–37 in / 80–94 cm | 25–29.5 in / 64–75 cm | 34.5–39.5 in / 88–100 cm |

Use the women's jacket chart for the full reference and confirm any outerwear label against its own manufacturer chart.
Choose a jacket reference by category, not a universal number
The tables above answer two different starting questions. The men's tailored US/UK jacket 40 example pairs with EU 50 and a 98–102 cm chest reference. The women's US 8–10 clothing example pairs with UK 12–14, EU 38–40 and an 88–97 cm bust reference. They use two separate sizing systems; the numbers are not equivalents to one another.
Blazers, casual shells and insulated coats may need different ease at the same body measurement. Check the specific maker's shoulder, sleeve, chest or bust and layering guidance before selecting a size.
When to use a dedicated jacket chart
For structured numeric tailoring, see the men's jacket chart; for jackets marketed with women's US, UK or EU labels, see the women's jacket chart and compare bust, waist and hip together. This overview helps select the relevant reference, not a universal fit.
How this guidance is checked
These sources support the measurement method and help check real-world variation. They are not presented as one universal brand-size table.
- ISO 8559-2:2025 — Size designation of clothes — Primary and secondary dimension indicators — International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Clothing methodology: size designation should be based on defined body measurements rather than assuming universal retail labels.

- Ladies Size Guide — H&M. Cross-check for women’s US/UK/EU clothing labels and bust, waist, and hip body measurements.
